This meant the appointment of a full time TfEL Pilot leader in the school to work with our teachers and students on 21st Century teaching and learning. We were also chosen for the TfEL (Teaching for Effective Learning) Pilot which runs for 3 years and will provide insight for all school communities in South Australia. We received $2 million in Government Funding towards the development of Seaview as an Advanced Manufacturing focus school. 2014 was an exciting year of recognition for Seaview High School. Our teachers and students continued the quality work they do with our feeder schools, performing and speaking to primary students throughout the year on what they can expect to experience at Seaview High School. Community partnerships involved working with families on methods of effective communication, DAYMAP and consistent feedback. There has been continuing development of formative assessment practices which ensure our personalised approach to teaching and learning. Seaview has continued the focus on Teacher Quality. The priorities identified for the year were providing high quality teaching, developing powerful learners and strengthening community partnerships. My second year as Chairperson of the Governing Council was rewarding and brought me great pride to be part of the continual improvement and achievement of the School. REPORT FROM GOVERNING COUNCIL Seaview High School experienced an exciting and productive year in 2014. Currently Certificates in Computer Animation and Game Design, Music Industry, Recording and Production, Automotive Industries, Aquatics, Laboratory Operations/ Pathology and Rural Animal Care are offered at the school. Seaview works in partnership with other education providers to deliver an extensive range of accredited vocational courses, which allows students to combine academic subjects with specialist programs to complete their SACE and pursue Tertiary study. Special Entry Programs Seaview is a zoned school however, students outside of the zone are invited to apply for entry into one or more of our Specialist Programs Tennis, Music. Year 8 students engage in specialised STEM programs where they learn to apply creative solutions to 21st century issues. This provides the foundation for making informed choices in the senior school when students can develop and strengthen their interests. Middle School students study a broad range of subjects from mandated National and State curriculum frameworks. With high quality teaching and learning as a school priority we are proud to be acknowledged by the DECD Pedagogy and Leadership Team as a school that can provide insight and learning for other schools.Ĭurriculum Seaview offers a comprehensive range of subjects that provide for individual interests and develop expert learners who are equipped for future focussed careers.
